Almost Free Cookbook for iphone users

I finally found something cheap enough to post here!  If you have an iphone, check out the "How to Cook Everything" app.   (It may be available for other phones as an app as well, I just haven't checked).   This app is basically the cookbook by the same name but in app form.  The cookbook retails for $35, and at $1.99, this app is a steal!  The app also includes a cool shopping list feature that lets you make a list based on the ingredients in the recipe you are using. Or, you can make your own list of whatever you want. Bon Apetit!

Toll Booth Refund / Reject Collector

Have Exact Change? USE IT! Go through the exact change lanes at the toll booth and as you throw in your change be sure to check the "REJECTS" bin. You may get some pennies and a few Canadian quarters... or you may strike it rich and get a pile of Quarters. Let me know how much you get as a reject collector.

(My best day - $12.63 -- Beat that!)

Free Lunch... Everyday?

Join us for our occasional free lunch at whole foods. Just about everyday between 12-1 they have free samples of virtually everything. You start out with your fruit and cheese appetizers. Then move around and get some meat/cheese, perhaps some bread? Be sure to check around the sushi case for a sample or ask for a sample of the tuna or other prepared salads from behind the deli case. Then move around to the desserts and pickup a sample from on top of the case.

YUM YUM ... Lunch is served. But be sure not to do this everyday because you may feel uncomfortable seeing the same employees day after day. Also, each store (click here to find other local stores) does the samples differently so mix it up and try another store.

Check here for some free recipe's from Whole Foods: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/index.php

Should you choose to shop often from Whole Foods take advantage of their bag refund and bring your own bag.

Trade Me... Tomato for Watermelon?

Today's blog posting comes more as trading stuff than getting free stuff.

Lets say you planted 50 tomato seeds expecting 5 plants to grow and all the sudden 25 or 30 plants decide to grow. So you plant the seedling and those plants produce TONS of tomatoes (so many your family and friends are sick of them). What do you do????

Trade them for fruit or other vegetables! Check out this article in the NYTimes for some ideas on how to trade your "extra tomatoes" for some blackberries or perhaps watermelons (Katrina favorite treat)!
